How to Connect PassNinja to Zapier
Updated June 25, 2026
TL;DR: Connect PassNinja to Zapier via OAuth in under two minutes.
- 1. Open a Zap and add PassNinja as a trigger or action.
- 2. Click "Connect a new account" and complete the OAuth flow.
- 3. Log in to PassNinja and click Allow to grant Zapier access.
- 4. Zapier tests the connection and shows your account name.
- 5. Build Zaps using Create Pass, Update Pass, Delete Pass, Find Pass, and five real-time triggers.
PassNinja connects to Zapier using OAuth 2.0 — the same secure login flow used by Google, Shopify, and Stripe. You authorize once, Zapier stores the connection, and it refreshes automatically. No API keys to copy, no headers to configure. This guide walks through the authorization flow, what permissions Zapier requests and why, and how to manage or reconnect your account over time.
What you need
- A PassNinja account (any paid plan)
- A Zapier account (free or paid — all PassNinja actions and triggers work on free Zapier plans)
How to connect your account
Step 1 — Add PassNinja to a Zap
- Log in to zapier.com and click + Create → Zaps.
- In the trigger or action search box, type PassNinja.
- Select PassNinja from the results.
- Choose your event (for example, Create Pass or Pass Installed).
- On the Account step, click Connect a new account.
Step 2 — Authorize PassNinja
A PassNinja authorization window opens in a new tab or popup.
- Log in with your PassNinja email and password if prompted.
- Review the permissions Zapier is requesting (see Permissions explained below).
- Click Allow.
- The window closes automatically and Zapier returns to your Zap.
Step 3 — Confirm the connection
After authorization, Zapier runs an automatic test. If successful, you'll see your account listed as:
[Your Account Name] (aid_0x...)
This confirms Zapier can reach your PassNinja account and is ready to use.
Permissions explained
When you connect, PassNinja grants Zapier the following scopes:
| Scope | What it allows |
|---|---|
account:read | Read your account name and ID — used for the connection label |
pass_templates:read | List your templates so Zapier can show them in dropdowns |
passes:read | Look up passes by serial number (Find Pass search) |
passes:write | Create and update passes |
passes:delete | Delete passes |
webhooks:write | Register a webhook when you turn on a trigger Zap |
webhooks:delete | Remove a webhook when you turn off a trigger Zap |
Zapier cannot access your billing information, other users on your account, Apple or Google signing credentials, or any PassNinja settings outside of pass management.
What's available after connecting
Once connected, your Zaps can use:
Actions (Zapier does something in PassNinja):
- Create Pass — issue a new Apple Wallet or Google Pay pass from any template
- Update Pass — change field values on an existing pass; the update appears on the device in real time
- Delete Pass — permanently delete a pass and remove it from the holder's wallet
Searches (Zapier looks something up in PassNinja):
- Find Pass — retrieve a pass by serial number; returns the current field values
Triggers (PassNinja notifies Zapier when something happens):
- Pass Created — fires when a new pass is issued
- Pass Installed — fires when the recipient adds the pass to their Apple or Google Wallet
- Pass Updated — fires when a pass field is changed
- Pass Uninstalled — fires when the pass is removed from a device
- Pass Deleted — fires when a pass is permanently deleted
Managing your connection
Rename a connection
If you connect multiple PassNinja accounts, rename them to keep things clear:
- Go to zapier.com/app/connections.
- Find PassNinja in the list.
- Click the connection name and rename it — for example, "PassNinja — Acme Corp Loyalty".
Reconnect after a password change
Changing your PassNinja password invalidates the stored token. To fix any Zaps that stop working:
- Go to zapier.com/app/connections.
- Find the PassNinja connection and click Reconnect.
- Complete the authorization flow again.
- Your Zaps resume automatically.
Disconnect
- Go to zapier.com/app/connections.
- Find the PassNinja connection and click Disconnect.
- All Zaps using this connection are paused immediately.
- Webhook subscriptions registered by those Zaps are removed from PassNinja.
Troubleshooting
"Could not connect to PassNinja" The authorization popup closed before the flow completed. Try again and click Allow — do not close the popup manually before the redirect completes.
"Authentication failed" after connecting Your PassNinja account may not have API access enabled. Contact PassNinja support to verify your plan includes API and Zapier integration access.
Zaps pause with "Account disconnected" Zapier pauses Zaps when it cannot refresh your token — usually after a password change or a long period of inactivity. Go to zapier.com/app/connections, reconnect the PassNinja account, then unpause the affected Zaps from your Zap list.
Connection works but templates don't appear in dropdowns Your account may not have any pass templates created yet. Log in to the PassNinja dashboard and create at least one template, then return to Zapier and reload the dropdown.
